Today, we are talking about one such actress who was a leading sensation in Indian cinema. However, she diverted her path when she tied the knot with the son of a former Indian Prime Minister. Now, she has transformed herself from an actor to an entrepreneur.
The actress we are discussing does not come from the Bollywood industry, but her name shines bright in Kannada films. It’s been over two decades that she has been a part of the South cinema. We are talking about, Radhika Kumaraswamy.
Kumaraswamy made her acting debut in Ninagagi opposite Vijay Raghavendra in 2002. The actress bagged the lead role in the film. With the intriguing storyline, the movie became one of the highest-grossing Kannada films. Radhika’s movie was the remake of the 1999 Malayalam film Niram.
Over the period of years, Radhika Kumaraswamy gave several hit films in different languages including Kannada, Tamil, and Telugu. Some of her hit films are Mane Magalu, Bhadradri Ramudu, Ulla Kadathal, Auto Shankar, and Navashakthi Vaibhava.
Coming to Radhika’s personal life, then she witnessed a lot of ups and downs. At the age of 13, she married a businessman, Ratan Kumar, in 2000. However, her husband passed away after two years of the wedding due to a heart attack. In 2007, the actress re-married, and this time, it was the son of former Indian Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda – HD Kumaraswamy. This was HD Kumaraswamy’s second marriage too.
HD Kumaraswamy has been serving as the Union Minister of Heavy Industries and Steel since June 2024. He previously held the position of Chief Minister of Karnataka twice, from 2006 to 2007 and again from 2018 to 2019. He has a daughter, Shamika, with Radhika, from whom he separated in 2015.
Currently, Radhika has introduced her own production house named after her daughter Shamika Enterprises. She still acts in Kannada films. Her last film was the 2024 supernatural thriller Bhairadevi.
Radhika Kumaraswamy has a net worth of Rs 124 crore, as per the reports. On the other hand, her husband HD Kumaraswamy’s assets are said to be Rs 44 crore.
