Kamal and Vani married in 1978, but their relationship ended in 1988, just a decade after they tied the knot. According to Kamal, the divorce and the alimony left him financially bankrupt, a statement that didn’t sit well with Vani.
In an interview with Deccan Chronicle, Vani expressed her frustration and clarified her stance on the matter. “We have been divorced for years, and I have always tried to avoid public mudslinging as it’s a personal matter. Both of us have moved on from the past,” Vani said. She further questioned Kamal’s motives, asking why he was behaving obsessively about their past, especially after so many years.
Vani strongly refuted Kamal’s claim, saying, “If Kamal is saying I made him bankrupt, then people are free to believe whatever they want. My silence doesn’t mean his words are true. Alimony and divorce are part of the same process, but I did not bankrupt him, that’s a complete lie. Which court allows someone to bankrupt another person through alimony? I was shocked when I heard this.”
She continued, “When our marriage ended, it might have hurt his ego, but he could have simply said it was a financial crisis instead of making these claims. We were married for 12 years, and I know him very well. He can choose not to answer any questions when he doesn’t want to.”
