Every time Govinda appeared on the big screen, it became hard for his fans to take their eyes off him. With such a massive fan base, Govinda quickly earned the title of a Bollywood superstar. Fans went crazy for his movies, and even to the extent that one fan turned impostor and began living in Govinda’s home as a housemaid. Yes, you read that right! It may sound unbelievable, but this bizarre incident was shared by none other than Govinda’s wife, Sunita Ahuja. In an interview, Ahuja also revealed shocking details about the impostor that will leave you stunned.
During a conversation on Timeout With Ankit, Sunita revealed that there was a fan who pretended to be a housemaid and stayed with Govinda and his family for about 20-22 days. Sunita mentioned that she initially thought the housemaid came from a wealthy family and even discussed the matter with her mother-in-law, noticing that the woman didn’t know how to wash dishes or clean the house.
Housemaid at Govinda’s Home Was a Minister’s Daughter
As the conversation continued, Sunita revealed that after some time, they discovered that the housemaid was an impostor and the daughter of a minister who was a huge fan of Govinda. Sunita said, “I wasn’t very mature at that time, but I grew suspicious. She would stay up late at night, waiting for Govinda. I was shocked. One day, I had her background checked. She then broke down in tears and admitted that she was a fan of Govinda. Later, her father came to pick her up, arriving with four cars.”
Sunita Ahuja shared, “I think she worked with us for about 20 days. That’s the kind of fan following Govinda had.” Though Govinda has been away from the big screen for some time, there was a period when fans eagerly awaited their favourite actor’s films. In the 80s and 90s, Govinda was regarded as one of Bollywood’s top actors. However, over time, his career began to decline. His last successful film was Partner, which was released in 2007 and since then he has not been giving hit films.
