McDonald’s fans divided over new menu items including ‘confusing’ McFlurry

Starting from next week, McDonald’s is bringing three yummy new items to its menu and the welcome return of some much-loved classics.

As summer continues to spring more surprises on us, a lot of people are opting for outdoor meals and treats. When it comes to cooling down in the warmer season, McDonald’s and its McFlurry has always been the popular choice. This year, things have taken an interesting turn as a brand new Skittles flavour is added to the mix from next week.

This addition, along with other newbies, has stirred a great deal of debate among Mcdonald’s fans. From Wednesday, May 29 onwards, customers have something to look forward to: the new Hat Trick Burger. This hefty treat consists of three beef patties, double cheese slices, grilled onions and stacked tastefully with ketchup and mustard in a sesame seed bun.

The launch of this burger is perfectly timed with the sports-loaded summer season, including the much-awaited Olympics beginning in July. Priced at £5.89 for a regular meal and £7.69 for a medium, this is a worthy contender for all burger lovers out there.

An excited spokesperson for McDonald’s disclosed: “For fans craving that big win this Summer, McDonald’s UK & Ireland has unveiled an exciting new menu, packed full of crowd-pleasers.”

Plus, the fast food chain is also bringing in new savoury snacks perfect for sharing. The Chicken Sharebox includes six Chicken Selects, 12 McNuggets, and four fun dips all for a mere £10.59. For those who are obsessed with Chicken Selects, there’s now a nine-piece share box ready for grabs at only £8.49.

A McDonlad’s spokesperson stated that there’s an updated trio of dips hitting the menu “to pair perfectly with chicken”, which includes garlic mayo, sweet and smoky BBQ, and sweet chilli. Well-loved mozzarella dippers are again making an entry, teamed with a bold tomato dip, price tagged at £2.39.

For those who are keen to try the Skittles McFlurry, the delightful treat combines smooth dairy ice cream swirled with chewy Skittles fudge bites and sugary pearls, finished with a purple Skittles-flavoured sauce. Also a piping hot dessert will also debut, alongside the re-emergence of a choccy favourite.

Stealing the limelight at first sight is the Galaxy Chocolate and Raspberry Pie, set at a friendly price of £1.99. This blend of silky chocolate and tangy fruit in the form of a crispy chocolate pastry filled with glossy ganache and a luscious raspberry compote has been praised aplenty by fans. All set to return too will be the Galaxy Caramel McFlurry, much to the rise of cheers from Galaxy lovers for £2.19.

The return of McDonald’s Ice Latte just in time for some good weather, priced at £2.49, was announced by the likable social media page New Foods UK, known for its timely updates on new food releases. While there is a lot of anticipation to taste these new entries on the menu, not everyone seemed equally excited.

One customer said: “The pie and McFlurry look good.” Another said: “Iced latte thank the lord.”

Another person wrote: “Omg chocolate and raspberry pie, we need to try,” dragged a friend into the excitement with a tag. Another commented: “I’m all over that,” while one less impressed challenger questioned: “So confused about the McFlurry.”

But seemes unimpressed, adding: “A Skittles McFlurry is tragic.” One nother said: “The pie and McFlurry sound awful,” Meanwhile, there was a questioning Instagram user who threw in, “Isn’t the burger just a triple quarter pounder? ,”.

Another individual wrote: “Curious about the Skittles McFlurry – wouldn’t they freeze hard like fruity bullets on your teeth. The Galaxy Raspberry Pie sounds good though.”
