Manoj Bajpayee is one of the ruling actors on screen. After three decades in the industry, he shares why he dies not wish to take breaks.
Manoj Bajpayee has experienced some of the toughest phases in life. Despite the dark times, he navigated his path and found the light at the end of the tunnel. Today, he is highly regarded as one of the most talented and versatile actors. From theatres, film, to web series, we have seen him essay varied character shades. With the multitude of roles, he is reigning the screens back to back. With regards to this constant hustle, in an exclusive conversation with India.com, the National Award winner opened up about the time when he had long gaps in his career and more.
The ‘Despatch’ actor shared how he enjoys going to set everyday and performing. Despite the constant hustles, he manages to get seven hours of sleep and start his day early.
Speaking of the constant work modes, recently ’12th Fail ’ actor Vikrant Massey announced his hiatus form acting. “I’m not retiring… Just burned out. Need a long break. Miss home, and health are also acting up… People misread it [the social media post],” Vikrant shared earlier in December. Earlier, ‘Stree 2’ actor Pankaj Tripathi also hinted about take a break after working plethora of good content films and series.
Every actor has their career trajectory and unique outlook at life. When we asked Bajpayee about taking career breaks and how it may impact one’s work, he recalled his struggle period and how he is always has that excitement for his films. “For me, for many years, there used to be a constant gap between my one film and another film and it was not intentional. It was just that I was not getting those kind of interesting roles so automatically the gap between the two films was quite long. Now, if I am getting choices, why the hell I should give a break. I am just enjoying being on the set with one film after other, I don’t feel the need of taking a break because I don’t feel exhausted, I feel really excited when I am promoting my film…It doesn’t exhaust me rather it gives me a lot of joy reading different opinions, I am analysing, re-analysing. When you are doing what you love doing, I don’t feel tired. 7 hours I sleep everyday, I catch my routine early morning, and I love going to the set and performing,” he says.

After giving great performances for over 30 years in the industry and playing range of roles, we asked what is his checklist for choosing his upcoming characters now. ‘Silence 2’ actor laughingly said, “See I have gone naked, in my 101th film, Kanu’s film (Despatch) and there is nothing more left. I am shedding all skin. No, but one is always looking forward to the next offer. I am always praying very hard that the next one should be as exciting as this and should be as revealing as this one. It is something I just love doing…I want to be surprised by my next script.”
