Howell-Matawan, No. 20 in the NJ.com Top 20, scored two goals in the third period to force a 2-2 tie with Manalapan in Howell.
After a scoreless first period, Nicholas Fanizza scored the only goal of the second period for Manalapan as it took a 1-0 lead into the third period. Goals by Aidan Garced and Steven LaRosa gave Howell-Matawan a 2-1 lead before Sam Gankin tied the score.
Both goalies had big efforts. Christian Esposito made 29-of-31 saves for Manalapan while Jack Elias stopped 27-of-29 shots for Howell-Matawan.
