PORT DICKSON: Police have detained a couple after their 20-year-old daughter lodged a report claiming her father had been raping her for the past eight years.
In her report, the victim alleged she had also given birth twice following the attacks.
District police chief Supt Aidi Sham Mohamed said police picked up the couple on May 3.
“We received a report from the victim on May 1 claiming that her father had raped her.
“We then probed the matter and discovered that the father first raped her in 2016 when she was only 12,” he said in a statement.
He said one child was three years old and the second died shortly after birth.
Supt Aidi Sham said the victim claimed that she told her mother about the rapes but she did nothing about it.
He said checks showed that the couple had previous drug-related criminal records.
“We have since obtained a court order to remand the duo till May 8 to assist in investigations,” he said.
The case, he said, is being investigated under Section 376B of the Penal Code for incest which carries a jail term of between 10 and 30 years and whipping upon conviction.
