A MAN has been charged after a car allegedly ploughed into a police vehicle as an officer was “chased with a chainsaw”.
Cops raced to Glasgow Road, Paisley, yesterday afternoon following reports of an alleged disturbance involving a weapon.
It’s claimed the individual charged at police with a chainsaw in the street.
A dozen officers apprehended the man after the alleged incident, which left two cops injured.
Images show a force patrol car crashed into the wall of a nearby property after the alleged collision between the motors.
One local said: “It’s a busy road but it’s the first time I’ve seen the likes of this.
“Thankfully no one appears to have been seriously hurt which is the main thing.”
Glasgow Road was closed between Buchlyvie Road and Allanton Avenue, while drivers are asked to avoid the area.
Cops confirmed a 30-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with the alleged disturbance.
He is due to appear at Paisley Sheriff Court today.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 1pm on Monday, 6 May, 2024, a disturbance involving a weapon occurred following a collision involving a car and a stationary police vehicle on Glasgow Road in Paisley.
“Two officers were injured and were treated by paramedics.
“A 30-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with this incident. He is due to appear at Paisley Sheriff Court on Tuesday, 7 May.
“A report will be forwarded to the Procurator Fiscal.”
