“One election commissioner has resigned on Saturday. We salute him for his resignation and for not succumbing to pressure by BJP central leaders. News reports showed how they have tried to forcefully control Bengal through elections and he didn’t accept this. They are a blot on the reputation of the election commission, working at the behest of the BJP government,” Banerjee said.
Addressing the rally, Banerjee took a jibe at the ‘Modi ki Guarantee’ campaign and slammed the Centre for the LPG gas hike and withholding of MGNREGA and other central funds. She said: “Where was your guarantee when gas price was on the rise? Ahead of elections, they reduce prices by ₹100 and then after polls, increase it. They have earned ₹70,000 crore through an increase in cooking gas prices.”
“Where was your guarantee when MGNREGA dues were not paid… You have not paid for the funds of the housing scheme. If the funds are not released till May 1, we will build the houses on our own. Bengal will only become self-reliant once people make Trinamool win. We will start 100 days scheme under ‘Karmasree’. We will create 50 mandays under the scheme. You have to give me strength to win and make us win the seats.” Banerjee urged the people to vote for Trinamool.
“After winning 18 seats in the last Lok Sabha election followed by winning several MLAs in the 2021 assembly polls, BJP started their atrocities on the people of Bengal. BJP MPs went to Delhi and stopped the funds of Bengal,” she said. Banerjee vowed to stand by the people of the state. “Be it Darjeeling, Gorkha, Lodha, Shabar, Adivasi, Brahmin, Sikh or Christian, we stand with all the people,” she said. She said for the welfare of Matus, she took a stand against CAA and will not allow Matuas to be taken to detention camps.
Taking a dig at Abhijit Gangopadhyay, she said: “Somebody who was sitting on the chair until recently, he let go of his mask and is now bowing down to others. He has taken away the jobs of people and now the people will give a befitting answer to them.”
