Superfan Mama Joy – real name Joy Chauke – has somewhat arrogantly stated that her absence at Kings Park Stadium, thanks to Gayton McKenzie’s new rules, is the real reason behind the Springboks loss to Ireland.
The sports supporter has defiantly responded to the Minister of Sport, Arts and Culture after he halted her sponsored trips to events around the country and abroad.
South Africa suffered a devastating 25-24 loss to their rugby rivals in Durban in the final minute following last week’s sweet victory in Loftus. This brings an end to their two-test match series.
MAMA JOY CLAIMS SPRINGBOKS LOST IN HER ABSENCE
On her X account, Mama Joy claimed that the Springboks’ one-point loss to Ireland was entirely due to her absence from Kings Park Stadium.
Chauke – who attended the Boks game in Loftus last week – hinted that her plans to go to Durban had been thwarted.
She tweeted: “Mama Joy, @Springboks lucky charm was not there. Previous game, I was fast and prayed for my team, but today, I ate pap and vleis in the morning. During the game, I was snacking.’
Chauke – who earlier trolled Gayton McKenzie over his claims that superfans must-watch games on television – added: “You had like a prophetic message to me yesterday. Meaning I won’t go to Durban… Today, Springboks lost 25-24 against Ireland.
“So, the Minister of Sports has to understand that Mama Joy has a lot of influence with sports, with Springboks.”
Chauke is referring to Gayton’s interview with the SABC on Friday, in which he claimed that the department would no longer be sponsoring superfan trips.
Mama Joy also reposted a tweet that claimed that she was a “sangoma that carries lucky muti”
WATCHING OLYMPICS FROM HOME TOO?
By the looks of it, it seems Mama Joy has accepted her fate of not attending the Olympics in France later this month after she begrudgingly claimed that she would be “watching sport on TV.”
She added in a tweet: “A whole superfan ambassador of SA.”
Earlier this week, Mama Joy accused unknown people of harbouring “jealousy” against her.
She tweeted, “Thanks to my God and my ancestors and to all people who support sport out there. Let not poverty and jealousy stand in your way.”
