Malayalam Actor TK Vinayakan Booked at Hyderabad Airport for Alleged Misconduct

Malayalam actor TK Vinayakan was detained by the Hyderabad airport officials for misbehaving with IndiGo gate staff.

Malayalam actor TK Vinayakan, known for his roles in grey characters, was detained at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Hyderabad. He was accused of causing a disturbance at the airport and misbehaving with IndiGo gate staff. Reports indicate that the actor was intoxicated and behaving uncontrollably in a public place.

A video circulating online shows Vinayakan shirtless, sitting on the airport floor, and shouting at staff members. The actor had travelled from Kochi to Hyderabad and was en route to Goa. As the situation escalated, the CISF security team detained him, and he was later handed over to the local airport police. “A case has been registered, and an investigation is underway,” said Balraj, CI of the Airport Police Station.

This incident is not Vinayakan’s first encounter with trouble. In October 2023, he was arrested for creating a disturbance at a police station in Ernakulam, Kerala. He was questioned following complaints about his disruptive behaviour at his apartment complex but was released on bail.

In July of the previous year, the actor was again booked by the police for his controversial remarks regarding the death of former Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy.

Earlier, during a press conference for the film Oruthee, Vinayakan questioned the #MeToo movement, suggesting that if requesting sexual favours falls under the #MeToo umbrella, he too could be implicated. He further drew criticism for making inappropriate comments towards a female journalist, stating he would request sexual favours if he desired them. His remarks faced widespread backlash, leading him to issue an apology.
