Today is National Fudge Day which means it’s the perfect time to try your hand at making some delicious homemade fudge.
Fudge can usually be found in gift shops and other tourist areas and attractions but there’s really nothing better than the homemade variety.
The texture of fudge should be somewhere between fondant icing and a hard caramel which can be hard to achieve using a traditional recipe.
Alternatively, you can actually make fudge easily using a simple two-ingredient method in the microwave.
All you need is chocolate and condensed milk, a microwave or a slow cooker to make the recipe.
Making fudge this way is a lot easier as it doesn’t require caramelising the sugar which can be tricky to get right.
This recipe for two-ingredient microwave fudge is from Sarah Rossi at Taming Twins.
She said of the recipe: “This Microwave Easy Fudge recipe uses just two ingredients – chocolate and condensed milk.
“It works every time and is made in just two minutes. Add your own flavourings and toppings for truly delicious fudge.”
How to make two-ingredient fudge
Ingredients
- 400g chocolate
- 397g condensed milk
Method
1. First, break your chocolate up into pieces so it melts more easily.
2. Then, put it in a large, microwave bowl with the condensed milk.
3. Microwave it for 30 seconds, remove it and then beat it well. Repeat this process once or twice more until the mixture is thick and smooth.
4. Once it’s the correct texture, pour it into a small baking dish lined with grease-proof paper. Add sprinkles or any other topping at this point.
5. Pop the fudge in the fridge overnight to set.
6. Once set, remove it from the fridge and cut it up into small cubes to enjoy.
This homemade fudge can be kept for around a week in the fridge.
