MAGA podcaster backpedals on Trump: ‘Oof, I really stepped in it’

Amid an onslaught of criticism, political commentator and podcaster Tim Pool told his followers Friday that he still supports Donald Trump for president and won’t vote for Robert F. Kennedy Jr. this November.

Pool told his millions of followers on X he was joking when he announced he was all in for Kennedy because, in part, “MAGA die-hards can’t form alliances properly.”

“Oof, I really stepped in it this time,” Pool said in a post to X, “Holy crap I’m voting for Trump.”

Earlier in the day, Pool wrote: “I think trump is on track to lose and this is why Dems are a cult, will march in lockstep MAGA die hards can’t form alliances properly Independents / post libs will say fuck that. Registered dems outnumber GOP by almost 12m. … There’s a reason they can’t get a Rogan endorsement and it’s exactly this behavior The top podcast, markedly independent, fair and honest And they decide to go to war with it instead of trying to ally with it.”

He followed it with: “Ok I’m voting for RFK Jr now”

His earlier announcement came a day after mega podcaster Joe Rogan threw his support behind Kennedy.

Rogan said on Thursday on his video podcast, “The Joe Rogan Experience,” that he thinks Democrats and Republicans as perverting democratic norms.

“That’s just what they do. That’s politics. They do it on the left, they do it on the right,” Rogan said. “They gaslight you, they manipulate you, they promote narratives, and the only one who is not doing that is Robert F. Kennedy Jr.”

Rogan added: “He’s the only one that makes sense to me.”

Rogan’s show is among the most popular podcasts in the world.

Pool, meanwhile, said it was all a gag.

“Yes I am trolling in response to people attacking Joe Rogan and Kyle rittenhouse,” he posted to X, referencing Kyle Rittenhouse, the man who was acquitted of all charges in the deadly Kenosha shootings that became a flashpoint in the debate over guns, vigilantism and racial injustice in the U.S.

Rittenhouse announced earlier this month he planned to vote for former Congressman Ron Paul instead of Trump because he thought the former president was weak on the Second Amendment.

But Rittenhouse reversed course hours later amid similar backlash.

“I’m 100% behind Donald Trump and encourage every gun owner to join me in helping send him back to the White House,” he posted to X.

Earlier in the day, Rittenhouse told his social media follows:

“A lot of people are upset that I said that I’m going to be writing in Ron Paul for president of the United States. And that is true, I will be writing in Ron Paul,” Rittenhouse said in a video. “Unfortunately, Donald Trump had bad advisers making him bad on Second Amendment and that is my issue. If you cannot be completely, uncompromisable on the Second Amendment, I will not vote for you.”

He added: “I support my decision and I have no takebacks.”
