The Congress on Wednesday expelled its leader Sanjay Nirupam from the party for six years with immediate effect after taking note of the complaints of indiscipline and anti-party statements amid seat-sharing talks with ally Shiv Sena (UBT).Earlier in the day, the grand-old party dropped Nirupam’s name from the list of star campaigners, Maharashtra Congress president Nana Patole said after attending a meeting of the party’s campaign committee in Mumbai.
