Locals of ‘glorious’ white sand beach beg to keep it secret | UK | Travel

Locals in the idyllic Outer Hebrides are pleading with visitors to keep their pristine white sands a secret.

Huisinis Beach on the Isle of Harris, often mistaken for Caribbean shores due to its sparkling white sand, has become an Instagram sensation.

At the end of a winding 12-mile road, Huisinis offers stunning views over the blue expanse of the Atlantic and nearby isles Taransay and Scarp.

Travel influencer Tom Wheaton, known as @brit_abroad on social media, captured the beach’s wild beauty and even a friendly Highland cow in a recent video, reports the Mirror.

Tom’s footage sparked comments from residents eager to preserve the tranquility of their hidden gem.

Instagram user madamedesade said: “Please don’t share thiiiiis hahaha. It is way too beautiful and more ppl will come.”

Enthusiastic about the location, The Dog Co posted: “The drive down to this beach is unforgettable! We had the highland cows join us as the sun was setting when we visited which made our visit, thank you for reminding us of this little place of paradise.”

Others shared their adoration, gbc123 remarked: “One of my favourite beaches here. A stunner.”

Chloe reminisced: “My favourite beach, absolutely stunning but no way can you swim in the water, it’s beautiful but freezing.”

Finally, kmwright2809 reflected: “Standing on this beach is one of my finest memories, walking 5 miles to get there through the beautiful landscape was a bonus.”

Wildlife enthusiasts are in for a treat at Huisinis Beach, where dolphins and seals are frequently spotted frolicking in the waters. Visitors have sung praises for Huisinis Beach’s unspoiled beauty, awarding it a five-star rating on Tripadvisor. Glenn commented: “Coast and beach are so beautiful! And quiet with very few people around! Long access road but with passing places.”

Hercules, another satisfied traveller, remarked on Tripadvisor: “An incredibly beautiful beach with white sands and turquoise sea. It was a long drive on single track road, luckily with many passing places but well worth the effort. The views are amazing.

“There was parking and we were lucky to be able to park our campervan. It is dog friendly. There is a visitor centre with great toilets. There is a drink and snack dispenser so takes adequate coins.”

Noting the practical amenities, Hercules also pointed out: “Parking was £5 if you stayed the whole day an£ you paid by card. We walked over to the jetty area then took a hill path towards another amazing white beach. There were wonderful photo opportunities. After a good walk with our dogs on a hot day, we finally went for a swim at the prettiest beach I have seen in the UK. Except for the water temperature it could have been the Caribbean.”
