Eskom will implement Stage 2 and 3 load shedding alternatively until further notice.
The power utility had been implementing Stage 4 load shedding during the week and reduced the rolling blackouts on Saturday.
LOAD SHEDDING FOR THE WEEK
On Sunday, Eskom said Stage 2 will be implemented until 16:00 on Monday. The power utility previously said it will implement Stage 3 from 16:00 on Sunday until 5:00 on Monday.
“Stage 2 load shedding will continue to be implemented until Monday 16:00. Thereafter, Stage 3 load shedding will be implemented from 16:00 until 5:00 on Tuesday. This alternating pattern of Stage 2 load shedding from 5:00 until 16:00 and Stage 3 from 16:00 until 5:00 will be repeated daily from Monday until further notice,” the power utility said.

TIPS TO MITIGATE AGAINST RISKS CAUSED BY ROLLING BLACKOUTS/POWER OUTAGES:
- Make use of surge protection: Electric surges are one of the biggest causes of damage to equipment during a power outage. Installing a surge protection device can help minimise some damage in unforeseen situations. Have a surge protection device fitted to your electrical distribution board or at the power outlet to the electronic device.
- Ensure that your alarm system is working and the backup battery is fully functional to provide power to the system in the event of load shedding.
- Spare torch or headlamp: Keep a torch in your car if you arrive home at night during a power outage. Most smartphones have built-in torch or torch apps, which come in handy during unexpected outages.
