Like in Ayodhya, Congress will beat BJP in Gujarat too: Rahul Gandhi | India News

AHMEDABAD: Lok Sabha leader of opposition Rahul Gandhi said here Saturday that by drubbing BJP in Ayodhya, INDIA alliance had defeated the Ram Temple movement once led by BJP patriarch LK Advani and predicted that Congress would oust the saffron party from Gujarat in the next assembly polls due in 2027.
“The movement which LK Advani ji started, that movement at whose centre was Ayodhya, has been defeated in Ayodhya.I am saying a very significant thing… Congress party and INDIA bloc defeated them in Ayodhya,” Rahul told enthused party workers at Rajiv Gandhi Bhavan, Gujarat Congress headquarters in Ahmedabad.
Rahul was referring to Advani’s 1990 Rath Yatra for the construction of the Ram Temple. Ayodhya is part of UP’s Faizabad LS seat, which BJP lost this time to Awadhesh Prasad of SP, Congress’s INDIA bloc ally.
Rahul visited Ahmedabad in the wake of clashes outside Rajiv Gandhi Bhavan between BJP and Congress workers on July 2 over his alleged “anti-Hindu” remarks in Parliament recently.
Addressing a rapturous crowd, Rahul predicted that Congress would oust BJP in Gujarat, too. “They (BJP) have challenged us by threatening us and damaging our office. Let me tell you that we are together going to break their govt, like they damaged our office. Congress will defeat (PM) Narendra Modi and BJP in Gujarat like we did in Ayodhya,” Rahul said.
Rahul later met families of Congress workers arrested over the clashes as well as kin of victims of the Rajkot gaming zone fire tragedy (May 2024), the Harni boat capsize (March 2024), Morbi bridge collapse (Oct 2022) and the Takshashila fire tragedy (May 2019). tnn
