Lafayette 148 is feeling a classic vibe.
The designer lifestyle brand has launched a new collection called Classic 148, a permanent selection of the signature pieces that Lafayette 148 has perfected since its founding in 1996.
The idea behind Classic 148 is timeless, modern and elevated essentials, such as “the perfect white shirt,” precision tailored pants, well-crafted coats, classic leather and signature cashmere sweaters. The idea is to create an everyday uniform to mix and match in a monochromatic palette.
“We built Lafayette 148 on the strong foundation of timeless dressing, the pieces that we have become known for and that our loyal customers purchase season to season as mainstays in their wardrobe. Classic 148 was developed to keep that product offering always available to her,” said Deidre Quinn, cofounder and chief executive officer of Lafayette 148.
Consisting of 75 pieces, the looks include a Kennedy white shirt in Italian stretch cotton for $598; a cashmere turtleneck sweater for $698; a Finesse Crepe sheath dress for $698; a cashmere ribbed V-neck sweater for $998, and the Nappa Leather Sullivan Pant for $2,498.
Overall, the prices range from $178 for a Nappa Leather L Beam skinny belt to $3,498 for the camel hair oversize trenchcoat. Pricing on Classic 148 is similar to the seasonal collections.
The main color scheme for Classic 148 is black and white with pops of copper and denim.
Emily Smith, creative director of Lafayette 148, explained, “As a consumer myself, I find it important to help our clients build on their existing wardrobe by developing thoughtfully constructed pieces that are investments for the future. While I’m always looking at trends, I try to create modern classics that are in tune with the way women dress now. While our seasonal collections bring a playful twist on our modern classics, Classic 148 is a carefully curated mix of what our brand has been perfecting over the past 28 years. It’s a mix of iconic timeless classics, which we know that whether she’s new to the brand or has followed us from our founding, these are her must haves.”
Since the collection speaks to classic, seasonless brand staples, the line will be refreshed but not relaunched each season, with many of the items permanently on offer. At department stores and other points of distribution, selected pieces will be merchandised as part of the main collection.
Classic 148 is carried in all Lafayette 148 doors including Lafayette 148’s 59 Greene Street flagship in SoHo, Brighton Way in Beverly Hills and Oak Street in Chicago, as well as lafayette148ny.com.
