Bollywood star Kareena Kapoor Khan is celebrating her 44th birthday today, on September 21. The actress who was recently seen in ‘The Buckingham Murders’ has achieved a milestone in her career. The ‘Crew‘ actress completed 25 years in Bollywood.
On her special day, ETimes got in touch with Rensil D’Silva, director of Saif Ali Khan-Kareena Kapoor starrer ‘Kurbaan’. Rensil shared, “Kareena is a fantastic actor.Wonderful to work with. So spontaneous, one minute she will be crying, the next minute she will be laughing and joking and asking what’s wrong. I think that’s a tremendous talent to just switch on and switch off like that. And I have been watching her career over the years. She is gone from strength to strength. I haven’t seen Buckingham Murders, but I’m really looking forward to it. I catch most of her films. One of the few real talents, you know, when you say you’re born with a talent, I would say that’s how Bebo is.
Recalling a scene from the film, Rensil shared, “I remember the last scene of the film where she has to burst out crying. And she did it in one take. And I remember it was a really difficult scene. She had to cry and say I was dying in that shot. It was so cold, I remember that night. And we were on this train and it was an action sequence and an emotional sequence. And she just did it in one take. I remember that entire outburst, her entire crying. And it was, just a perfect take. And I never even called cut for a second. I remember just marvelling as she was doing the take.”
“Some people, I think, have this hotline for God. Have this talent which you are born with. And with them, you realize you can’t teach acting. Or you can’t teach. It’s a gift. When you see a take like that, when you see a performance like that, you realize that you either have it or you don’t. And Bebo really has it. That’s why she is where she is even, you know, all these years later. And she started so young. You can’t keep this level of stardom and perform. Look at the width of her performances. Unless you’re really gifted. And also, over the years, from being just a young girl to a mother. Now, post her motherhood, she’s grown even further. What people see, her career is just, the way she’s done it.” Rensil added.
Rensil further added, “Look at ‘Crew, I think she has chosen very well. You are the product of your choices, you know. I always believe that. All of us, whether you’re a writer or an actor, it’s as much as the things you say no to, as the things you say yes to. And she’s chosen wisely. And, you know, she continues to choose wisely. Which is why she had the length of career she achieved. One is talent. And one is understanding, you know, that not to filter away the talent and to use it wisely with the right makers, with the right scripts. At her age, I like the fact that she is going more for acting roles. In an age of content, in an age where, today, more than stardom, it’s the concept of the film, right? And she’s choosing wisely. It is that. It is your choice and your talent.”
