Kolkata doctor rape-murder case: CBI seeks court permission for polygraph test on RG Kar ex-principal, say sources

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Friday approached the court for permission to conduct a polygraph test on Dr. Sandip Ghosh, former Principal of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, according to sources.

The CBI may conduct a polygraph test on Ghosh, who was the principal of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, where a woman doctor was allegedly raped and murdered earlier this month. This incident led to nationwide protests and calls for increased safety for healthcare workers and doctors at their workplaces.

Ghosh, who resigned two days after the victim’s body was found in a seminar hall of the medical facility on August 9, has already appeared before CBI officials and has been questioned several times.

“We want to further verify Ghosh’s answers, as there have been discrepancies in some of his responses to our questions. Therefore, we are considering the option of conducting a polygraph test on him,” an official told PTI earlier.

Earlier this week, Ghosh was interrogated by investigators as part of their probe into the rape and murder of the postgraduate trainee.
