Koffee With Karan 8: Ajay Devgn opens up on how the industry has changed drastically
After the recent episodes featured Kiara Advani and Vicky Kaushal, Varun Dhawan and Sidharth Malhotra, Aditya Roy Kapur and Arjun Kapoor, Karan Johar will be seen having some unfiltered and candid conversations with the actor and the Golmaal filmmaker. The filmmaker-anchor will discuss the film fraternity of yesteryears and draw comparisons on how much things have changed.
Talking about the same, Karan Johar said, “Don’t you think, we came from a very different industry, though of course, the industry can be harsh to failure. We’ve seen people’s attitude change but today dont you think, when we look back in those days, that was a far more purer industry”
Opening up about it, Ajay Devgn said, “Lots of warmth. Everybody was supporting everybody, people were happy watching each other’s films, if they liked each other’s films also, it’s very different today. I have a chain of cinemas, so my feeling is very different. Any film which works, I am the most happy, but most of the people wait for that Friday that the numbers are not good, but they don’t realize how it is harming us and less films are being made, less investors are there. We are all struggling. Today people are talking about action films, and how difficult it is to make an action film. You have to compete with Hollywood and you have to compete with that kind of quality. What are the budgets we have compared to them, its peanuts and I am so happy that we have technicians today who can compete with them, practically coming near to them or competing with them with kind of budgets. I don’t think Hollywood can do that. I am being very honest about it. I think we should have some kind of support from the audience. We do, but I think they should understand this aspect of this also. It’s not very easy to sit in your living room and just say that yeh toh kharaab film hai, yeh toh acchi film nahi hai, isse compare kar lo.”
