HULU SELANGOR: Perikatan Nasional is not ruling out plans to file an election petition for the Kuala Kubu Baharu by-election which concluded on Saturday, said Bersatu deputy president Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu.
“We will look into what we can do, and definitely, further action will be taken,” said Ahmad Faizal during a press conference at Perikatan’s operations centre in Batang Kali on Saturday (May 11).
Earlier this week, PAS secretary-general Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan claimed Pakatan Harapan had abused its power and misused government machinery before and during the by-election campaign.
Takiyuddin said Perikatan would file an election petition if Pakatan won the KKB polls.
According to unofficial results, Pakatan’s Pang Sock Tao won the KKB polls with 14,000 votes against Perikatan’s Khairul Azhari Saut’s 10,131 votes.
Pang had obtained a 3,869 vote majority, according to unofficial results.
Ahmad Faizal said that early analysis of the results showed that Perikatan had made gains in certain polling districts.
“There are encouraging gains in certain polling districts. Voter turnout was also low, at around 61%.
“We accept the results with an open heart, and we will work harder next time, and god-willing, we will return to KKB,” added Ahmad Faizal
He also said the outcome of the KKB polls showed increased youth votes towards Perikatan.
