The largest car manufacturer Kia has been planning to introduce new EVs in India. Now, the plan seems like is going in full swing as its upcoming e-SUV EV9 has been spied for the first time during the testing phase. The company has already showcased the vehicle last year as a concept during AutoExpo, giving an idea about how it will look in the future.
Kia EV9 Electric SUV Design
Talking about the styling, the upcoming king-size electric SUV looks quite similar to its concept version. However, some cosmetic changes can be seen in the test mule. It gets the same LED headlight setup, L-shaped LED DRLs, massive bonnet, heavy cladding on the sides, automatic ORVMs with integrated turn indicators, roof rails and whatnot.
From inside, it is hard to comment on details right now. The electric SUV is expected to be offered in 3-row seat configuration and a multi-functional 4-spoke steering wheel.
Platform and Powertrains
It has been reported that the upcoming EV9 will be developed on the E-GMP platform, providing it with a completely solid built quality. The reports also say that the e-SUV will be offered in three powertrain options. The list includes the EV9 RWD, which will feature a 76.1 kWh battery with 215 BHP motor. This setup will provide a max range around between 350 km to 360 km on a single charge.
Long Range Model
It will also offered in the long long-range model, supported by a 99.8 kWh battery setup that offers a decent range of around 540 km on full top-up. The SUV is expected to come with a dual-motor setup with a combined power of 380 BHP.
