Grab your bananas that are still attached at the stem and dip them in water. Leave them in the water. This should make your bananas last longer, for up to a couple of weeks.
In the meantime, peel one of your bananas and put the skin in a jar full of water. Let the banana skin soak overnight.

Why dipping your bananas in water keeps them fresh for weeks
Understanding the main reason behind banana spoilage is necessary when trying to comprehend why dipping them in water makes them last longer, explained a Quora user, breaking down the process.
Bananas release ethylene gas, which triggers the ripening process and enhances flavor. However, excessive ethylene exposure can lead to faster deterioration, particularly in warm environments.
When bananas are submerged in water, they are shielded from air, reducing ethylene and oxygen exposure. This helps slow down the ripening process. Furthermore, the cool water helps maintain a stable temperature around the fruit, further slowing ripening and reducing the risk of spoilage.
