Kate Middleton Wears Queen Elizabeth ’s Bahrain Earrings to Remembrance Sunday Service

LONDON — Catherine, Princess of Wales is easing her way back into royal life.

The Princess of Wales attended the annual Remembrance Sunday service led by King Charles at the Cenotaph war memorial in central London.

She wore a black structural military-like ensemble with a velvet bow; a black fascinator that featured black flowers and three poppies, as well as a small brooch.

The princess also wore Queen Elizabeth II’s Bahrain pearl drop earrings, which were gifted to the late monarch by the ruler of Bahrain in 1947.

The earrings are significant in Kate Middleton’s jewelry selection as she’s worn them to a Remembrance Sunday service in 2016 and 2019, and to the funeral of the Duke of Edinburgh in 2021.

The Princess of Wales watched from the balcony of the Foreign Office building with Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh by her side.

Queen Camilla did not attend the ceremony due to a chest infection.

The princess often opts for military-style coats at Remembrance Sunday services.

Last year, she wore a black Catherine Walker design with a high collar. She previously wore the same coat to the Remembrance Sunday service in 2019, with three poppies and a small gold brooch.

The princess often wears British designs to the service. In the past she has worn Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen and Temperley London, but has also worn international designers such as Diane von Furstenberg.

Remembrance Sunday is considered one of the most important dates on the royal calendar, where senior members of the royal family come together to pay respect to members of the armed forces.

The Sunday morning service, which in the U.K. commemorates the end of World War One and other battles fought by British and Commonwealth armed forces, proceeded peacefully.

On Saturday evening, the Princess of Wales attended the Royal British Legion Festival of Remembrance at Royal Albert Hall to celebrate and commemorate the Armed Forces.

She wore another simple black coat dress and accessorized it with a black Chanel clutch; a Monica Vinader pearl necklace and Princess Diana’s Collingwood pearl drop earrings and her diamond and sapphire engagement ring that once belonged to her late mother-in-law.

The appearance of the princess marks her slow return back to working royal life.

She took to social media in June to say she’d be returning slowly to her royal duties while undergoing treatment for her cancer diagnosis.
