Filmmaker Karan Johar made waves at the Cinevesture International Film Festival (CIFF) held in Chandigarh as he unveiled plans for Student of the Year 3. KJo disclosed SOTY 3 will be a web series that will be directed by Reema Maya, acclaimed for her groundbreaking work in independent filmmaking and co-founding Catnip production house. During his engaging session at CIFF, Karan Johar shared insights into his creative ventures, shedding light on his penchant for collaborating with fresh talents in the industry. Notably, he unveiled his partnership with director Reema Maya.
Karan Johar’s announcement included the revelation that Reema Maya will be directing the digital rendition of Student of the Year, a franchise synonymous with launching fresh faces into Bollywood stardom. However, Johar emphasised that the digital adaptation would reflect Reema Maya’s distinct artistic vision rather than his own, allowing her creative voice to shine through authentically. He added, “But it will be her way and definitely not mine because if I’ll enter Reema Maya’s world, then I will make it more of an illusion, which is what her name means. I just wanted it to be her voice. She made it her own series.”
