About Kangana Ranaut’s Emergency Controversy

Kangana eagerly awaits the screening of her next film ‘Emergency’. The plot of the movie revolves around the life of Indira Gandhi, the former Indian Prime Minister, and focuses on the 21-month emergency rule she implemented between 1975 to 1977.

The actress recently took to online platforms to break the news that her much-anticipated political drama, ‘Emergency’, is still waiting for the green flag from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). This surprisingly contradicts earlier words which claimed the movie had a clear path from the CBFC. As it turns out, the approval procedures for ‘Emergency’ are still in place.

The BJP MP said, “There have been rumours circulating that my film Emergency has been certified by the Censor Board. This is not true. While our film did receive clearance from the CBFC, the certification was on hold due to numerous death threats against members of the censor board (sic).”

She concluded by saying, “There is pressure being put on us to remove certain scenes, such as the assassination of Indira Gandhi, the Punjab riots, and more. Now, I don’t know what else to show. What are we supposed to do-blackout the film during these scenes? This is unbelievable to me, and I am deeply sorry for the current state of thinking in this country (sic).” ‘Emergency’ which was expected to release on September 6, the new release date is yet to be announced.
