Kamala Harris’ 2024 presidential campaign sent vetting materials to a slew of VP candidates on Monday, with one notable exception: Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear.
Citing an unnamed source familiar with the matter, Wall Street Journal White House reporter Ken Thomas reported that several potential vice presidential picks had been contacted for vetting materials, including Sen. Mark Kelly (D-AZ), North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper, Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro, Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker, and Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz.
Harris’ campaign has requested vetting materials from potential VPs, including Cooper (NC), Kelly (AZ), Shapiro (PA), Whitmer (MI), Walz (MN) + Pritzker (IL), according to a person familiar. Beshear told CNN he hasn’t been asked to submit info at this point.

Beshear, however – who has featured in several lists as a potential candidate for Harris’ 2024 running mate – told CNN on Monday that he had not bee asked to submit any vetting materials to the Harris campaign.
“There are some people who have already started submitting information for vetting purposes,” said CNN host Kaitlan Collins during an interview with the governor. “Are you one of those people? Have you submitted any information to the Harris campaign?”
Beshear – who told Collins that Harris had personally called him just hours after President Joe Biden’s withdrawal announcement – replied, “I’ve not been personally asked to submit information at this point.”
The governor did tell CNN that he would be open to becoming Harris’ running mate, however, if he could help the people of Kentucky more in that role than governor.
“The only reason I’d ever consider something else is if I felt that I could help my people in Kentucky more in a different role or that there was a chance to move past the partisanship, the constant fighting,” he said.
