When asked about rules for a breakup, Kalki advised avoiding the temptation to remain friends with an ex for at least 6 months after a breakup depending on the length of the relationship, citing that it’s essential to maintain emotional distance during this time.
Kalki also shared her approach to moving on and entering another relationship. She revealed that she typically waits only two weeks before dating someone new, sparking a laugh. However, she advised blocking her ex on social media to avoid unnecessary trauma and heartache.
The actress acknowledged that she has had both clean and messy breakups in the past, admitting that it can be difficult to stick to a decision. Her takeaway from past relationships is that it’s better to make a clean break once the decision is made.

Kalki further revealed her unconventional tactics when she was younger. She confessed that she would sleep with someone else and tell her boyfriend about it, hoping that he would break up with her. “I had this tactic back then. I would sleep with someone else and tell my boyfriend, so he would break up with me,” she told Hauterrfly. When asked how she dealt with the uncertainty of wanting to get back together, Kalki was firm that once the breakup happened, she was done.
Kalki Koechlin is now married to Guy Hershberg. They welcomed their daughter Sappho in 2020 and currently reside in Goa. She was previously married to director Anurag Kashyap.
