Nag Ashwin, who helmed Prabhas and Deepika Padukone-starrer Kalki 2898 AD revealed his favourite part of the entire film.

Prabhas and Deepika Padukone-starrer Kalki 2898 AD is making headlines ever since it was released. The movie is racking up money at the box office like anything. While many fans claim that the movie keeps one at the edge post-interval, people are also appreciating Deepika Padukone’s role in the film. Meanwhile, Nag Ashwin, who helmed the film, also revealed his favourite part of the entire film. In an interview with India Today, he said that after the interval, Deepika Padukone’s pregnant Sumathi walking through a tunnel and braving the fire around her is one of his favourite scenes in the film. Healso revealed that the fire scene was a reference of Lord Krishna’s birth.

Talking about the scene, he said, “That is one of my favourite scenes; I think maybe the most favourite scene. But the way we shot was so hurried. We were shooting three setups that day, and Deepika had to leave on a certain flight. It usually happens that some of the most important or magical things in the film happen by chance or in a hurry. And this is what that was. And, but just watching it in that hurry, in that rush and everything, when you just reach the monitor and you see Deepika walking through that particular tunnel in that fire, I just knew this was going to be special.”

He further added, “It was a sort of leap of faith. It was the sort of walking and surrendering to a larger power at play. It was a reference to the birth of Krishna. And it was how there was a leap of faith taken by Vasudeva. It was all of that… Deepika is a super-smart actor. You just need to give her a little and she knows what the brief is. I genuinely thought that the final pose that she held at the end of that tunnel when the interval is about to happen, felt like such a strong visual for me.”

Nag Ashwin’s film grossed ₹95.3 crore on its opening day and accumulated ₹414.25 crore in India during its first week. In the movie, Prabhas portrays Bhairava, a bounty hunter from Kashi, Deepika plays SU-M80, a pregnant test subject, and Amitabh embodies Ashwatthama from Indian mythology.
