Saswata Chatterjee recounted filming the climax sequence of Kalki 2898 AD and disclosed that Deepika Padukone’s actor-husband Ranveer Singh, happened to be on set at that specific scene.
Saswata Chatterjee’s commander Manas fought with Amitabh Bachchan’s character Ashwatthama in the film Kalki 2898 AD‘s climax sequence, dragging SU-M80 away by her hair. For the unversed, mom-to-be Deepika Padukone portrayed SU-M80, also known as Sumathi, a pregnant test subject in Nag Ashwin’s sci-fi epic. Saswata disclosed that she was carrying a child during the filming of this scene and that her husband, Ranveer Singh, was also present on the set.
In an interview with News18, Saswata Chatterjee revealed that Deepika Padukone was pregnant in the climax scene. Remembering the last sequence in the film, he said, “Deepika is just ever-smiling. There is a scene in the film where I drag her by the hair. It was part of the last leg of the shoot and was shot in Mumbai because Deepika was pregnant by then. There was a lot of physical tussle in the scene, so I told Ranveer, don’t worry, for more physically challenging scenes, there’s a body double.” Calling Singh humble and polite, he recalled the father-to-be’s response, “I know, Dada.”
