Teenage Kaizer Chiefs dribbling wizard Mfundo Vilakazi has reportedly been promoted to the Amakhosi first team!

Vilakazi joined the Amakhosi academy in January 2022 after shining for Doornkop Students at the 30th edition of the Philly’s Games in Tembisa.

Fans were eager to see their new starlet feature for the first team however the club opted to take a patient approach with ‘Obrigado’.

Two years later and it appears the wait is finally over! According to the latest reports, Mfundo Vilakazi has been promoted to the Kaizer Chiefs first team!

“Kaizer Chiefs DDC coach Vela Khumalo tells me Mfundo Vilakazi has officially been promoted to the first team. It happened his week,” SuperSport TV analyst Karabo Phasha said as quoted by FarPost.

“I’m extremely happy for him. But I really wish he gets minutes. It was great analysing and presenting your games, my son [Vilakazi].”

Kaizer Chiefs interim head coach Cavin Johnson has opened up about the club’s January transfer window plans.

The Glamour Boys have struggled to close the glaring gap between themselves and rivals Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates.

The Buccaneers lifted the MTN8 title already this season, while Mamelodi Sundowns also lifted the inaugural African Football League trophy.

Despite looking well off the pace, Johnson is adamant his side don’t need to bolster their squad.

“Like I said earlier, I’m not interested in getting any players at the moment. We need to work with what we have, make sure that they come to the party and make sure that they believe that they are Kaizer Chiefs players,” Cavin Johnson said, as quoted by SoccerLaduma.

“And that’s what we gonna work on during the break and now we’ve got a little bit of a holiday.

“I think five or ten days, we get back and we’ve got a little pre-season camp and we see what happens when we come back.”
