I had no clue what a cherry perfume would smell like until I spritzed Juliette by Juliette Has a Gun. I’m not usually a fan of fruity fragrances—apple-y perfumes usually remind me of shampoo, and sweet berry fragrances tend to make my teeth hurt when I smell them, which is really weird. So I was surprised by just how much I loved Juliette’s dark cherry notes, spiced by pink pepper. It reminded me a little bit of Gucci Guilty—the perfume a lot of my best friends wore in the early 2000s—meets Dr Pepper, and I know how that sounds, but I mean it in the best way possible. This perfume is a little bit sweet, but in a dark, mysterious way—it’s like the perfume version of a deep red lipstick, or your favorite wintry drink enjoyed in a dimly lit room, by a crackling fireplace. It has that same kind of vibe. The overall effect of Juliette is wintry and sexy—perfect for warming up snowy nights this winter. I can see myself wearing it out for drinks with friends, just as easily as I can at home curled up by the fire.
