Post the success of Pathaan, John Abraham was returning to the big screen in an action avatar with Nikkhil Advani’s Vedaa. While the makers were the first one to announce its release date as 15th August, but the prospects of the film were severely hampered by the Stree 2 juggernaut which minted over Rs 225 crore in just 5 days.
The John Abraham and Sharvari starrer began its journey on a good note by earning Rs 6.3 crore on 15th August, Thursday. This has been the trend of John led films in the past few years, they have not been able to reach double digit openings. On Friday however, the film dropped to Rs 1.8 crore. On Saturday, it witnessed a small spike to reach Rs 2.7 crore and Rs 3.2 crore on Sunday. Vedaa would add to the long list of unsuccessful films of John like Ek Villain Returns, Attack, Satyameva Jayate 2 and Mumbai Saga. He’s most likely to be seen in Sajid Nadiadwala’s Houseful 5 with Akshay Kumar, Riteish Deshmukh, Fardeen Khan and Boman Irani.
