As soon as John Abraham shared a photo with Indian shooter Manu Bhaker, where he held one of her bronze medals, netizens criticised the actor. Some felt it was inappropriate for him. Check reactions.
Actor John Abraham expressed pride and admiration for Indian shooter Manu Bhaker, who returned from the 2024 Paris Olympics with two bronze medals. John shared a picture on Instagram with Manu, both holding her medals and smiling proudly. He captioned it, “Had the pleasure of meeting @bhakermanu and her lovely family. She has made India proud!!! Respect.” However, after seeing the post, fans got upset as they criticised John for holding one of Manu Bhaker’s medals.
One of the users in the comment section wrote, “You should not have held the medal won by her! She has two hands to hold both the medals! You could have simply had a fan moment with her”. Another said, “No one should be allowed to touch the medal… Earning the medal and posing with it are two very different things”.
Manu Bhaker made history by becoming the first Indian woman shooter to win an Olympic medal, securing bronze in the women’s 10m Air pistol event. She also won another bronze with Sarabjot Singh in the 10m air pistol mixed team event, marking India’s first-ever shooting team medal. Although she narrowly missed a third medal in the women’s 25m pistol event, finishing fourth, Bhaker became the first Indian athlete to win two medals in a single edition of the Olympics since independence.
