The Bold and the Beautiful leading lady Taylor Hayes is one of the show’s popular characters. Hunter Tylo originated the role in 1990 and played her until 2019. In 2021, the soap opera recast with former Days of Our Lives actress Krista Allen taking over. Allen played the beloved doctor for two years and earned a Daytime Emmy nomination before being fired in December 2023. The actress revealed to Deadline that producers felt the character “wasn’t really needed.”
But now the show might have had a change of heart.
Although the show thinks Taylor isn’t needed, fans disagree. While the character was mostly used as a prop for Ridge Forrester and Brooke Logan’s marital problems, there was more to her. The esteemed psychiatrist is a loving mother to her children, Thomas and Steffy Forrester. There was a lot they could’ve done with the character, but instead, they shipped her offscreen.
But the good doctor could be making her way back to Los Angeles. Rumors are swirling about a Taylor return following a report from Soap Hub. The news outlet reported that the show issued a casting call for a new leading lady named “Sabrina.” The character is described as “strong” and “sophisticated,” and between 45 to 50 years-old.
Soap operas often use fake names for casting calls to hide the identity of the real character they’re casting. Plus, the description of strong and sophisticated are traits that are associated with Taylor. So it’s a possibility, the show is recasting the role of the beloved doctor.
Taylor’s return would come at a perfect time. Steffy is dealing with Sheila Carter, plus Hope Logan is making moves on Steffy’s husband Finn. Also, Thomas is having a tough time after his breakup with Hope. Plus, the writers are bound to have her involved in Brooke and Ridge’s latest turmoil.
Is the leading lady Taylor? Or could it be another former character such as Kristen Forrester? Or maybe it is a new female character?
Whoever the lady is, she will bring some much-needed excitement to The Bold and the Beautiful.
