Allu Arjun’s Pushpa 2 has finally hit the big screens. The highly-anticipated film has lived up to the hype, offering fans more reasons to admire Allu Arjun and experience the cinematic magic. Pushpa 2 has so far amassed Rs 364.63 crore, and with the momentum it is maintaining, it is expected to surpass several big-ticket films in box office collections.

However, before Pushpa 2’s release, there was another movie which was released 8 years back. The movie turned out to be a huge hit among fans and went on to collect Rs 2070 worldwide. We are talking about none other than Aamir Khan’s Dangal. Helmed by Nitesh Tiwari, the film was based on the life of Mahavir Singh Phogat. The movie featured Fatima Sana Shaikh, Sanya Malhotra, later actor Suhani Bhatnagar, Zaria Wasim and Sakshi Tanwar in key roles. With Dangal being the highest grosser film till now, let’s take a look at some of the highest grossing movies made so far.

Dangal

Aamir Khan’s Dangal, released in 2016, was a massive blockbuster. Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, the film earned Rs 2070 crore worldwide as per industry tracker Sacnilk. Even after eight years, no film has managed to break its record.

Baahubali: The Conclusion

SS Rajamouli’s directorial masterpiece, Baahubali: The Conclusion, ranks second among the highest-grossing films. Featuring Prabhas, Rana Daggubati, and Anushka Shetty, the movie collected an impressive Rs 1,742.3 crore worldwide.

RRR

Another sensational hit, RRR, created havoc at the box office. Directed by SS Rajamouli and starring Jr NTR, Ram Charan, and Alia Bhatt, the film earned Rs 1,250.9 crore globally.

KGF Chapter 2

The Yash-starrer and sequel to KGF, KGF Chapter 2, was another major box office hit. The film garnered Rs 1,176.5 crore worldwide.

Jawan

Whenever Shah Rukh Khan graces the big screen, it’s a frenzy for fans. Released in 2023, Jawan secured the fifth spot on the list of highest-grossing films, collecting Rs 1,157.5 crore globally.

Pathaan

Another Shah Rukh Khan starrer, Pathaan, occupies the sixth spot on the list. The film’s worldwide collection amounted to Rs 1,042.2 crore.

Kalki 2898 AD

Nag Ashwin’s much-anticipated film Kalki 2898 AD made waves with its record-breaking earnings. Starring Prabhas and Amitabh Bachchan, the movie earned a total of Rs 1,019.8 crore.

Animal

Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Animal secured the eighth spot on the list. The film grossed Rs 929.1 crore worldwide.

Bajrangi Bhaijaan

Released in 2015, Salman Khan’s emotionally resonant film left a deep impact on audiences. The movie earned Rs 877.6 crore globally.

Stree 2

Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor’s Stree 2 also made it to the top 10 highest-grossing films list. The horror-comedy, released this year, collected Rs 851.8 crore worldwide.

While all of these films have earned significantly whooping amount on the box office. However, they are still not able to break Allu Arjun’s Pushpa 2 record of first day. Pushpa 2 box office collection on day 1 stood at Rs 175 crore.
