The makers even released the teaser of the movie, but surprisingly, it never made it to the big screens.
In February 2020, when no one had any idea that a month-long lockdown would hit the country, Karan Johar’s company, Dharma Productions, revealed that they were making a new movie called “Takht.” The film was supposed to be a historical story about a family conflict that occurred long ago in India during the Mughal Empire. It was expected to have a grand, dramatic narrative, similar to his earlier film “Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham,” but set in a historical time period.

The movie was expected to feature Vicky Kaushal and Ranveer Singh as the two brothers at war. In addition to these two, the film was also expected to star Kareena Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Janhvi Kapoor, Anil Kapoor, and Bhumi Pednekar in prominent roles. According to reports, the movie was said to have a whopping budget of Rs 250 crore. The teaser of “Takht” even included a release date, which was December 21, 2021. However, the movie never made it to the big screens.

Due to the trend and the lockdown, the production of “Takht” was delayed.
The matter gained more attention when netizens noticed that Karan Johar’s directorial featured four-star kids, which resulted in negative publicity, leading the director to shift focus to another project. Meanwhile, in an interview, Karan revealed that “Takht” had not been shelved but was merely delayed.
