In Bollywood, the constant flow of films often goes unnoticed, with many disappearing just as quickly as they arrive. Recently, a trend has emerged where South Indian stars collaborate with Hindi film actors, resulting in a mix of hits and flops. One notable attempt was made five years ago in 2019 when Pan India superstar Prabhas was paired with the versatile Shraddha Kapoor in the ambitious film Saaho. Despite the significant investment of Rs 70 crores spent on just one scene, the film failed to resonate with audiences which was mega disaster.

One scene demanded budget of Rs 70 crore, yet this film flopped

Every shot of the action-thriller Saaho was filmed using cutting-edge IMAX cameras, showcasing the makers’ commitment to delivering a visually stunning experience. This was the first Indian film to utilize IMAX technology for every scene reflecting the substantial investment poured into the project.

Featuring a star-studded cast, including Prabhas, Shraddha Kapoor, Jackie Shroff, Neil Nitin Mukesh, Chunky Pandey, Murali Sharma, and Mandira Bedi, the film ultimately fell short of expectations, despite its ambitious production.

As reported by Sacnilk, Saaho had a staggering budget of 350 crores, with a significant portion allocated to individual scenes. Notably, an impressive 8-minute action sequence commanded a budget of 70 crores, marking it as the highest ever invested in a single scene. For the climactic showdown, 100 stunt performers were brought in from around the globe, yet the film failed to captivate audiences as hoped.

Following the massive success of Baahubali, expectations were sky-high for Prabhas’s Saaho. While it performed decently in the Hindi market, it struggled to make a mark in Telugu, Malayalam, and Tamil audiences. According to Sacnilk, the film’s total worldwide earnings reached just ₹451 crore.

Rating of Saaho

Directed by Sujit, Saaho holds a modest rating of 5 out of 10 on IMDb, reflecting a lack of engagement in its storyline. If you’re interested in watching it, the film is available in Hindi on the OTT platform Netflix.
