NEW DELHI: Industry body India Energy Storage Alliance (IESA) on Thursday said it will come out with a “white paper” suggesting ways to address key policy and regulatory challenges for EV (electric vehicle), cleantech, green hydrogen, and battery storage. The white paper on sustainable future including renewables will be unveiled at the India Energy Storage Week (IESW) 2024, an international conference and expo, which is scheduled to be held in New Delhi from July 1-5, IESA said in a statement.
The industry body will suggest actions required to make India a global cleantech hub, it said, adding that the white paper will be presented before at least seven Union ministries and over 200 global energy leaders from over 50 countries participating at the event.
Rahul Walawalkar, president, IESA and Customized Energy Solutions, India, said in the statement, “As India embarks on a clean energy journey with the Modi 3.0 government, our white paper aims to suggest the immediate steps required to achieve the green energy transition vision.”
He further said that the IESW aims to facilitate smooth dialogue between the industry and various government departments, pushing EV, cleantech, green hydrogen, and battery storage ecosystems in India.
New & Renewable Energy secretary Bhupinder Singh Bhalla will attend the inauguration session of the Stationary Storage Day at IESW 2024 which will focus on energy storage requirements for modernizing the Indian electricity grid and also the need of energy storage to address India’s ambitious renewable target, it stated.
Besides chairperson, Central Electricity Authority (CEA), Ghanshyam Prasad and Jishnu Barua, chairperson, Central Electricity Regulatory Authority (CERC), will join various panels to share government policies to support energy storage adoptions in the country.
The event will also witness participation from senior officials of several ministries including heavy industries, mines, power, MSME, environment, forest and climate change (MoEFCC), science & technology, commerce & industries, as well as NITI Ayyog, among others.
Officials from various state nodal agencies, Association of Renewable Energy Agencies of States (AREAS) members, state discoms (power distribution companies), and transport agencies are expected to attend the event.
