Thangalaan EXCLUSIVE: Malavika Mohanan, Vikram, Pa Ranjith On Challenges of Creating The KGF Epic
Not many are aware that Malavika is the daughter of famous cinematographer K U Mohanan, who has shot films like Don, Talaash, Raees, Jab Harry Met Sejal and Andhadhun.Also, many would be unaware that before joining movies as an actor, Malavika had all the plans to get behind the camera as a cinematographer, or a director.
Now in an exclusive chat with ETimes, the actress opened up about that dream and if she plans to go back to it. She said, “Visual arts will always be my first love. I grew up being inspired by photography and cinematography. Even today, in my free time, I always prefer watching something. When I am sets, I’m always taking photographs and, and portraits of my co-actors. In my free time on sets, one will find me simply dabbling with the camera, just playing with it. “

“ Yes, at one point in my life, I did think I would follow in my father’s footsteps. But my journey took me elsewhere, and I really started enjoying that, and I still am! Right now, I’m completely in that headspace. However, in the future, you never know. If given a chance, I would love to direct too, someday. But as of now, I am grateful for all the work that is pouring in…I am loving it! I’m getting to work with some of the best directors in different industries in the country. And I have waited for a long time for this,” she excitedly added. She is currently being seen in Chiyaan Vikram led Pa Ranjith’s Thangalaan.
