‘I’m a flight attendant – and can’t be too nice to guests’ | Travel News | Travel

Being a flight attendant is a challenging yet crucial role.

Besides ensuring passengers board the plane safely, and are comfortable during their journey, they also need to remain vigilant. While it’s essential to ensure passengers aren’t overly intoxicated or unwell to fly, there’s one particular aspect they need to be cautious about.

TikTok user @itsmekikooooo, who shares her experiences as a flight attendant, revealed that being excessively friendly to passengers can lead to complications. She shared an incident where her over-friendly behaviour towards a passenger landed her in a spot of bother, leading her to regret her approach.

Over a video clip of her working on a plane, she wrote: “POV. You were being nice to a passenger onboard, and now he is asking for your ph[one] number, and if you can show him around after your flight.”

She concluded with “we can’t be friends”, indicating the risk associated with passengers flirting while she’s on duty.

The video has since garnered over 2,000 likes, with many viewers expressing their desire to befriend her despite the humorous background story.

One viewer cheekily commented: “It’s ok – we can just be lovers.”

Another queried: “What can’t we be friends? You have to be all of them in one to be the perfect one.”

Meanwhile, another traveller shared their own in-flight encounter, revealing: “Me as a passenger was being nice to the guy sitting on my right. We were chit-chatting during the flight, and now he has a crush on me.”

It appears being overly friendly can sometimes lead to unexpected complications, suggesting that finding the right level of friendliness might be crucial.
