The Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC) and its five regional campuses were recently granted deemed university status by the Ministry of Education (MoE) in response to a recommendation from the University Grants Commission (UGC). This milestone allows IIMC to award degrees, including doctorates, in addition to diplomas. This accomplishment elevates IIMC’s status as a leading institution for journalism and mass communication in India. With the new status, IIMC can broaden its programme offerings and potentially attract a larger pool of students looking for accredited degrees.
