Icelandic Outerwear Brand 66°North Plans Expansion – WWD

66°North, an Iceland-based sustainable outerwear brand, has named Jeppe Møller to the newly created role of chief commercial officer.

Møller, who worked as a consultant for the company for the past year, will oversee all revenue channels for the brand globally. He will be based in Copenhagen and will spearhead the opening of a new satellite office in Demark. Møller has more than 20 years experience in the apparel industry including 10 years with Ganni, a Danish brand.

“The technical wear category has been developing significantly into lifestyle over the past years, and I believe 66°North has the legacy and positioning to continue to build authority in the performance space while reaching a broader audience on the global scene,” Møller said.

Helgi Oskarsson, chief executive officer of 66°North, added: “I have known Jeppe since 66°North first collaborated with Ganni back in 2018. I’ve always been impressed with his strategic thinking and his deep understanding of our industry. Jeppe has been working with us to sharpen our strategic focus for the coming years, and I am excited to have him now on board full time to execute that strategy. Jeppe’s leadership values and team-building skills align perfectly with our vision of continuing to strengthen the global 66° team.”

At the same time, the company named Justin Warren sales director for North America where he will establish a New York City office and oversee the launch of wholesale in the market. Warren was most recently vice president of North America for Parajumpers. And it has also hired Mike Massoulier Eriksen to be head of sales EMEA, based in Copenhagen. He was previously head of buying for Wood Wood.

66°North, a certified B Corporation, was founded in 1926 as a protective outerwear brand for fishermen. It has been owned by Oskarsson and his wife Bjarney Haroardottir since 2011. The company operates 12 stores in Iceland and Denmark as well as a European flagship on Regent Street in London. It also has 28 wholesale accounts globally including Selfridges, Harrods, Mr Porter and Ssense. At the end of last year, it named Kei Toyoshima, the former menswear head at Bottega Veneta, as its first creative director. His first collection, 66NORDUR, will debut during Paris Fashion Week in January.
