I tried Iceland’s alternatives to Christmas pudding and one surprised me

The festive season always calls for two desserts on December 25, catering to those who aren’t fans of the rich flavours of Christmas pudding.

Iceland offers a variety of festive treats that are perfect for those who prefer something different.

The Luxury Ultimate Raspberry and Vanilla Macaron Wreath, priced at £10, is an excellent choice for a light dessert after a hearty Christmas roast. It’s easy to prepare – just defrost and serve.

Despite being frozen, it looked stunning, I was surprised by how well it had held up.

And the sweetness of the meringue perfectly balances the tartness of the berries and coulis. Served with a dollop of cream, it makes for a delightful alternative Christmas dessert.

However, it’s best consumed on the day of defrosting as the macarons tend to soften by the next day.

For a fun dessert that kids will love, the Luxury White Chocolate Melting Snowman for £8 is a great pick.

Simply remove the snowman’s scarf, pop him in the microwave, and watch as he spins around and his head melts, reports the Mirror.

My little one was thrilled with this, and we even had a countdown for the last 10 seconds.

The grand finale involves cutting open the snowman to reveal a delightfully light sponge pudding with a hot caramel sauce fountain oozing from the centre.

While it may seem like an ideal dessert for children, don’t limit yourself – the sponge is airy with a rich dark sugar flavour.

The sticky caramel keeps it moist and yes, I can confirm, it pairs excellently with custard.

This is a real showstopper for both children and adults alike, especially if they’re not fans of dried fruit puddings.

Iceland’s luxury dessert range for Christmas is now available in-store and online.
