I made almond croissant toast in the air fryer in just 15 minutes

Every time you open TikTok or Instagram it seems there’s a new cooking trend. Whether it’s cottage cheese recipes, baked feta pasta or jacket potato variations, there’s always something new to try.

One recipe that has been doing the rounds on social media of late is almond croissants or almond croissant-inspired toast.

The sweet, nutty recipe is perfect for breakfast but would also make a great snack or dessert.

The air fryer recipe involves making your own frangipane using eggs, sugar, butter and ground almonds and then spreading it on bread.

If you want a more traditional French recipe, you can swap out the toast for a croissant to create your very own almond croissant.

I decided to use two slices of brioche loaf but sourdough, white or granary bread could be used.

This recipe is very heavy on almond flavours so if you’re not a fan of frangipane, then I’d give this recipe a miss.

How to make air fryer almond croissant toast

Ingredients

25g sugar

25g softened butter

One egg

50g ground almonds

Two drops of almond extract

Optional

Flaked almonds

Method

1. Mix together the softened butter, sugar, egg, ground almonds and almond extract in a bowl until a thick paste forms. It should be a similar consistency to porridge.

2. Spread the paste on each slice of bread. If you’re using flaked almonds, now would be the time to sprinkle them on top of the almond paste.

3. Pop your slices of bread into the air fryer for around eight to 10 minutes. Check it halfway to check it’s not going too brown.

4. Once cooked, dust the toast with icing sugar and serve either by itself or with maple syrup for an extra sweet kick.
