Salmon is an easy meal to prepare and cook either in the oven, in the frying pan or in the air fryer.
It’s recommended that people eat two servings of fish each week as part of a healthy diet and salmon is a brilliant option.
The oily fish is low in saturated fat and is a source of iron, vitamin D and omega-3 fatty acids.
It also provides numerous health benefits which include lowering cholesterol levels, maintaining blood pressure and reducing artery inflammation.
Some of the most popular salmon dishes include traybakes, salmon en croute, fish pie, salmon pasta, salmon fishcakes and pan-fried salmon.
One of the most popular ways to cook salmon fillets is to pan-fry them, however, if they are cooked incorrectly, the skin can tear and the salmon flesh can break apart.
I cook salmon a couple of times a week and I can confidently say it tastes best when it has a crispy skin and moist, flaky flesh.
Achieving this can be tricky, especially if you’re not a confident cook. I used to cook my salmon fillets in the oven but after trying out this technique in the air fryer, I’m not going back.
The recipe takes five minutes to prepare and 10 to 12 minutes to cook, serving two people. You will need an air fryer and kitchen towel to cook this dish.
Ingredients:
- Two salmon fillets
- One tablespoon of olive oil or olive oil spray
- Salt
- Pepper
Method:
1. Firstly, season the fleshy side of your salmon with salt and pepper.
2. Turn over your salmon fillets and pat the skin dry with the kitchen towel. This should absorb any moisture which will ensure the skin crisps up in the air fryer.
3. Season the salmon skin with salt and pepper and spray it with olive oil. If you don’t have spray oil, brush on the olive oil.
4. Place the salmon in the air fryer, flesh side down. You can either put baking paper down first or put it straight into the air fryer. Cook at 200C for 10 to 12 minutes.
Serve with rice, salad or new potatoes.
