Everyone has a preference when it comes to bacon, and I like it to be super crispy, especially if it is streaky bacon.
However, it usually takes oil to achieve the crispy result, so when I saw a super easy hack which can be done in the air fryer, I thought I’d give it a go.
I simply preheated my air fryer to 180C and placed the bacon in the air fryer in a single layer.
If you do multiple layers, it won’t be as crisp. Then, I sprinkled some plain flour onto each rasher and cooked them for around eight minutes.
I was surprised to find out how great this hack actually worked and the bacon turned out super crisp and crunchy.
A small bag of plain flour can be purchased for as little as 50p and you simply need a sprinkle, proving to be very affordable.
There was still a small amount of flour on the bacon once cooked but you couldn’t taste it.
I also made sure to flip the bacon halfway through and added a small amount of flour to the other side.
Some online methods suggest using cornstarch which can also work in the same way as plain flour.
Another way to achieve crispy bacon, according to one mum, is to add a little bit of water when cooking bacon on the hob.
According to the Donna Urso, who goes by Just One Donna online, said the water helps to control the temperature of the bacon.
This means all the meat crisps up at the same time, instead of some parts burning while others are still soft and soggy.
She said: “The water stops the bacon from sticking to the pan, which can often happen when frying.
“As the water heats up and moves around the pan, it stops hot spots and uneven cooking.
“It is also much cleaner and seems less messy than traditional pan-frying methods.
“The water helps to keep the grease from splattering all over your stove too.”
