The Hyundai IONIQ 5, built on the Electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP), offers a futuristic design inspired by Hyundai’s classic PONY model.
Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) proudly announced that its electric SUV, the Hyundai IONIQ 5, achieved a Guinness World Record for the Greatest altitude change by an electric car.
The car travelled an impressive 5,802 metres in altitude, starting at Umling La in Leh Ladakh, the highest drivable point in India at 5,799 metres above sea level, and descending to Kuttanad in Kerala, which sits 3 metres below sea level.
This epic journey was completed in just 14 days by a professional team from Evo India, covering over 4,900 km through challenging terrains and extreme weather conditions.
The car proved its ability to handle freezing temperatures, steep mountain roads in the Himalayas, and the humid coastal regions of Kerala, further establishing itself as a leader in electric mobility.
Mr Unsoo Kim, Managing Director of Hyundai Motor India Limited, expressed pride in the achievement, saying: “The IONIQ 5’s performance in such extreme conditions reflects its engineering prowess and durability.
