Hyderabad rains: Rains bring relief and chaos to the city of Nizams

Rain and thunderstorms lashed Hyderabad today, bringing much-needed relief to the city, which was reeling under a heatwave for some time.Many X users took to the platform to share videos and pictures of the rain. Some even said that there were hailstorms in certain places. However, some complained about waterlogging and traffic jams after the rain.

“Rain pouring down in buckets in Hyderabad. Hailstorms are also being reported from several places. Metro stations are soaked, security scanners are being covered, and reports of power cuts across the city. It is likely to continue for the next few hours. Stay safe,” tweeted an X user.

“The Rain Gods have finally decided to show some mercy on Hyderabad, which has brought some respite from the unbearable heat,” wrote another.

Another person tagging Telangana CM Revanth Reddy wrote, “The roads are filled with water, traffic is stuck, and most of the people traveling through bikes are facing worse situations, and there is no way for ambulances.”

The India Meteorological Department had predicted rain and thunderstorms.

Sravani, Scientist C of Hyderabad Meteorological Centre, had on Sunday predicted isolated rainfall in some Southern districts of Telangana on May 9 and 10 as well.

According to the weather department, Hyderabad has recorded a maximum of nearly 44 degrees Celsius this summer. The met department had earlier issued an orange alert for 13 districts in Telangana till Monday amid heatwave conditions across the state.
